SUBJECT : Using Expanded Memory Shell
DATE : 6/6/90
OS VERSION : All
REVISION :
SHELL VERSION : All
GENERAL INFORMATION : For you Windows users who want to run the shell in
extended memory but can't because of a machine incompatibility, try using the
expanded memory shell. Use the EMM386.SYS driver from Microsoft or HIMEM.SYS.
The config.sys looks like this:
DEVICE=C:\HIMEM.SYS 1
DEVICE=EMM3886.SYS 64
device=C:\WINDOWS\smartdrv.sys 1024 512
It won't work without some value behind himem.sys. The 64 behind EMM386.SYS
signifies the amount of Expanded Memory you want allocated. This driver
changes extended memory into expanded memory.
